Seaweed - Minerals
Our Elemental Exfoliating Powder features a unique multi mineral complex of natural minerals and trace elements. Key among the 72 trace elements are magnesium, sulphur and a high percentage of Calcium. Seaweed is an excellent source of vitamins and minerals from iron and magnesium to vitamins E and K. The coral-like seaweed used in our exfoliating powder, Lithothamnium species, is a rich source of other minerals such as iodine and zinc, and is extremely important for healthy and hydrated skin!
Vitamin C
Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant that helps protect the skin from free radical damage, renowned for brightening the complexion, and promotes collagen synthesis for improved skin elasticity. It helps to reduce inflammation and tackle any unwanted pigmentation. Overall, an amazing ingredient that is beneficial for all skin types.
Rhyolite/ Pumice
Rhyolite is a volcanic rock formed in the magma of Strombolian volcanoes and presented as a super fine powder. It has excellent exfoliating properties, that gently yet effectively regenerates the skin to improve skin texture, improve cell turnover and leave the skin feeling smoother and softer. It also increases circulation which helps deliver oxygen and nutrients to the skin cells, resulting in a healthier complexion.
Niacinamide
Niacinamide functions as an antioxidant, its primary benefits lie in regulating sebum production, reducing appearance of pores, reducing hyperpigmentation, and improving overall skin texture. It helps the skin to strengthen the skin's natural barrier, keeping it moisturised, smooth and resilient.

Why did we rebrand?
Our Exfoliator has gone through a rebrand! You will notice it is now packaged in glass packaging with a recyclable lid made from PET plastic. This switch aligns with our commitment to sustainability - glass is a more environmentally friendly option as it is recyclable and can be used multiple times without losing its quality. We have also changed to an Irish manufacturer as this is hugely important to us.

Why powder?
Powders are considered kinder to the environment for a couple of reasons. Firstly the water free formulation eliminates the need for ingredients like preservatives typically used to emulsify exfoliating products. Powders are lighter by nature and less weight means a more positive carbon footprint than a gel or water based formula.
Why should you exfoliate?
Exfoliating is a process of removing the oldest dead skin cells from the skin's outermost surface. It encourages cell renewal where healthy new cells replace old dead cells to give you a more radiant, brighter complexion. Exfoliating the skin allows your follow-up products to reach their full potential, in turn, allowing you to reach your skin goals.
How often?
Exfoliate as part of your regular skincare routine 1-2 times per week depending on your skin and what you feel suits you best.
How do I exfoliate properly?
First things first, cleanse as normal, then apply about half a teaspoon of powder (or approximately 5 shakes) into warm, wet hands. Activate the powder by rubbing your hands together to form a paste. Then, apply your wet paste to your face and neck in gentle, circular motions. Remember to avoid the sensitive area around your eyes. The last step is to rinse off with warm water and then apply your moisturising products such as our Precious Facial Oil.
Unsure if you can exfoliate your skin?
Now we know some of you might have tricky skin and think you can’t use an exfoliator. Here's why we think Elemental Exfoliating Powder might be the solution for you. Firstly the ingredients are natural, they're all at a neutral pH, they are ground into a super fine powder so no rough scratchy feel and because it's a waterless powder, there are no preservatives. In fact, we worked hard to keep this product a powder in order to ensure we could make it as pure as possible. Powders don’t need preservatives or emulsifiers or a whole bunch of other ingredients that you might find in other non-powder exfoliators.
What is Beat The Microbead and our Sustainable Development Goals
Kinvara Skincare is the first Irish Skincare brand to be recognised and commended by the International campaign ‘Beat the Microbead’ for the ban of micro-plastic beads in cosmetic products worldwide.
Microbeads are tiny particles of plastic that are added to thousands of personal care cosmetic products. They are hardly visible to the naked eye and flow straight from the bathroom drain into the sewer system. Wastewater treatment plants are not designed to filter out microbeads, leading to the world’s oceans being filled with plastic. Sea animals absorb or eat microplastic beads mistaking them for plankton and the microbeads get passed along the marine food chain.
The Exfoliator also actively supports the UNDP Sustainability Goals, in particular Life Below Water. The SDGs goal aims to sustainably manage and protect marine and coastal ecosystems from pollution, as well as address the impacts of ocean acidification.
